It’s been a minute.

It’s been over two years since we last ‘spoke’. I would like to start off by apologizing for disappearing for so long. But I won’t. So backspace, backspace, backspace.

One of the things I have learned over the past few years is to stop apologizing for everything. Not the things I need to apologize for, like, “I’m sorry I knocked your painting off your wall and damaged it” (that just happened), or “I’m sorry I was late for our meeting” (that often happens). But apologizing for being me. Including needing to take a break from my blog for awhile. I still love writing and I still love this blog. But life got a little busy and for that, I won’t apologize.

But here I am a few years later. A lot has happened and mostly good things that I won’t get into today so let’s talk about why I’m back. Why now, you ask?

Well, let me tell you. Cause you did ask, didn’t you?

Remember that book I wrote? Well I wrote it. I didn’t abandon it. I didn’t forget about it. I didn’t tuck it under my desk and think that maybe one day I’d publish it. I did, however, think a lot about it. I read it, I edited it, I proofed it, I edited it, I second guessed it, I edited it. And so on and so on. And here I am. It’s done. Or as done as it can be. I hung onto this book for so long, wanting it to be perfect. Or did I? Was it perfection I was seeking or was it fear that was holding me back. Was I maybe just not quite ready to make that one last push to the finish line and put my latest piece of artwork out there for all to see?

And this is a piece of art to me. Just like my paintings, they are a piece of me. Never quite perfect, never quite finished, never quite ready. But just like my paintings, at some point, they need to be ready to leave me. I need to let them go. This piece, this book, is my most valuable, most vulnerable, most intimate piece that I have ever done. But it is time.

Let it go. Let it be. Give it life and release it to be what it will be.

This. The answer is this.

  1. I’m so excited to read your book! Stepping out into fear and vulnerability is terrifying. I know I will love it. Congratulations!!
